Daily passenger and freight transportation service on railroads in this State as required by Section 49-1402, NDRC 1943 does not apply to branch lines; but the Public Service Commission, under its general powers, may upon proper showing, make such regulations for passenger and freight transportation as will reasonably serve public convenience and necessity in the areas in which railway companies maintain branch lines.
